The 4th of July weekend is quickly approaching, and if you’re like most people, you’re getting excited about the three day weekend, the barbecues, and the celebrations. Last week, we shared three tips to keep your roof safe from fireworks during the holiday, and today, we have a few more tips for homeowners. Here are 3 more ways to stay safe while enjoying those fireworks!
Just as it’s important to trim branches away from your roof, it is also important to remove any branches or debris that is sitting on the ground around your house. A stray spark could easily land on a brush pile or branch that you’ve trimmed and spark a fire that spreads to your home and roof.
For the same reason, it is also important to clean out your gutters. Gutters are a space where dry debris collects and can be a fire hazard. Leaves and dried moss catch fire very quickly, so cleaning out your gutters minimizes the risk that a spark could land there and cause a fire on your roof.
Cenvar Roofing recommends getting to know your neighbors. In addition to being a friendly face, this allows you to know how worried you should be about their plans for the 4th of July, and how closely you’ll need to watch your roof. Creating a relationship that establishes mutual respect for each other’s property also increases the changes that if you’re not at home during the 4th of July, your neighbors will help you out in the event that something goes wrong.
Cenvar Roofing, conveniently located off of Timberlake Road in Lynchburg VA hopes these tips help you protect your roof as you prepare for the holiday weekend. Happy 4th of July!
