Our Story

From Spec Homes to Roofs That Last

Chris Good grew up swinging a hammer beside his dad, then built spec houses throughout the 2000s. When the 2008 housing crash killed the high‑end market, he pivoted, rehabbing bank‑owned homes and discovering that reliable tradespeople were painfully scarce.Realizing homeowners just wanted contractors who show up, keep promises and treat them like family, he launched Lynchburg Roofing in 2011 with one guiding principle: “Do it the way you’d do it for your mom.”

Enter Juan Villegas: The 1‑in‑500 Roofer

During those foreclosure rehabs Chris hired Juan Villegas (see his picture below in the Executive Team section), an Alabama roofer whose one‑man crew finished a “full‑day” punch list in two hours...perfectly. Their shared work ethic turned a “temporary roofing sideline” into a dedicated business, with Juan now Director of Quality Control.

Scaling Through Transparency

Chris next met Dave Reed (also pictured below), a youth‑pastor‑turned‑numbers‑wizard who joined at $12/hr, took over the books and insisted on radical financial transparency and reinvestment. That discipline fueled the growth from one crew to ten branches.

Why the Name “Cenvar”?

As the company expanded beyond Lynchburg, customers were worried that Cenvar wasn't local even though we planted physical branches in their back yards. That's when Cenvar had the name change contest and became Cenvar (Central Virginia Regional) Roofing in 2019. Cenvar Solar launched in 2023, and the Commercial Roofing division started in 2024.
